The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for coordination of all Federal, State, County and City elections where residents of the City of Virginia are eligible to vote. City Council and Mayoral elections are held every four years on the odd year. Election Judges are enlisted to help make election day run smooth. Who can vote?You can vote if you are 18 years old or older, a US citizen, and a Minnesota resident 20 days before the election. What is Absentee Voting?You can vote by Absentee Ballot if you are unable to vote in person on election day because you are:
You may vote by absentee ballot either in person at the City Clerk's Office or by mail BEFORE election day. To absentee vote by mail, you must fill out an application before a ballot can be issued. Please contact the City Clerk's Office for an application. Remember to allow enough time before the election for the application process.
What if I need help voting?If
you need help with voting, you can ask at the polling place for aid in reading
or marking your ballot. Or, you can
ask a friend to help you. If you can’t
easily leave your car, you can ask for the ballot to be brought out to you in
your car. If you are confined due to illness or disability, you can vote by absentee ballot. How do I register to vote?
You may also register on election day at the precinct where you vote, but please allow extra time for voting. You will need proof of your
identity and proof of the address where you are living on Election Day.
