Our Profile

The Virginia Fire Department is a full time department employing approximately 22 Firefighters/Paramedics.  

Our personnel works 24-Hour Shifts and a 53-Hour Work Week.  Shifts are split between three crews - A, B, C.

Based out of one fire station located at 115 4th Avenue North, we house eleven fire, EMS, and special rescue vehicles.  

Our staff is ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Virginia Fire Department completed 2544 runs in 2002.

Services Provided

In conjunction with the Virginia Regional Medical Center, we maintain three Advanced Life Support ambulances, serving Virginia and the surrounding communities (approximately 540 sq. miles).

 The Virginia Fire and Ambulance provides emergency and non-emergency transports, Advanced Life Support intercepts, and critical care transports to those communities where paramedics are not available or use a tiered response system.

We are also able to provide the following services:

Fire Response Area

The Virginia Fire Department provides fire protection in the City limits of Virginia.  We also provide assistance to surrounding communities through mutual aid agreements.

The City of Virginia currently holds an ISO rating of 5 as of 2002.
