The City of Virginia is seeking citizens in our community who are eager, willing, and motivated to become engaged by serving as a commissioner on City Commissions. Participating on a Commission is a great way for citizens to voice their concerns and opinions.

The City of Virginia is currently accepting applications from qualified citizens to serve on the following Commissions:

HOUSING & REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

This commission oversees the managment of the HRA 
for the City of Virginia

Meetings are held at 3:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Pine Mill Court

PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

The Planning & Zoning Commission advises the City Council on development proposals, property standards, long-range planning and property maintenance code issues.

HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

The Virginia Human Rights Commission gathers information and provides referral services to individuals who feel they have experienced discrimination within the City of Virginia

VIRGINIA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

EVELETH-VIRGINIA AIRPORT AUTHORITY  1 Opening
3 year term ending 12/31/2022

 Meetings are held 2nd Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Airport

 
COMMISSION QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be a qualified voter of the City of Virginia and must be a resident of the City for no less than one year.
